Part-Time Reading Specialist Homeschool Teacher

Private Family, $100/Hour ($1500/Week), Paid Bi-Monthly via Direct Deposit, Part-Time (15 hours/week), Monday-Friday Afternoons, Round Rock TX, In Person

We are looking for an in-person state-certified elementary teacher with reading specialization (multi-sensory reading and special education background preferred) to homeschool a 12 year old boy at 3rd grade level at his home in Round Rock, TX 78681 north of Austin. This is a great opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time position Monday-Friday afternoons teaching only one student that pays $100/hour ($1500/week). This opportunity will begin in the fall for this upcoming school year.

Looking for a teacher to homeschool a 12 year old boy with a processing delay. He is a hard worker and often likes learning, but he has trouble with reading and short & long-term memory. The teacher will plan and implement daily reading and math lessons using multi-sensory techniques and a parent-approved curriculum. (The parents are willing to collaborate with the teacher regarding which curriculum will be used, but the teacher will need extensive reading training to implement appropriate accommodations.)

The right teacher will be patient, warm, energetic and motivating, with a sense of humor. Looking for a teacher who is supportive yet challenging (ie: not too stern & rigid, but also not doing the work for him). The right teacher will be able to inspire him to keep his progress going while maintaining his work ethic and willingness to work hard. The overall goal is to get the student’s reading and math abilities closer to his actual grade level. Some type of multi-sensory reading specialist training along with a special education or intervention background working with students with special needs will be helpful for this position.

Teacher candidates should have a minimum BA and state certification (any state), along with at least 3 years of teaching experience. Lindamood-Bell, Orton-Gillingham, or other high level multi-sensory training or certification is preferred. The right teacher will also have good communication with both the student and parents, and be comfortable teaching reading and math from 3rd through 5th grade level in a homeschool environment.
