Remote Middle School English Teacher

Our virtual academy is hiring a full-time Remote Secondary English Teacher for the current upcoming school year beginning in August 2026. This position is designed for educators who hold a Virginia Secondary English Teaching Certificate and are passionate about providing high-quality virtual instruction. Candidates who reside in Virginia are strongly preferred, although qualified applicants living in Maryland or Washington, D.C. may also be considered. While this is a remote role, teachers must be available to attend required in-person professional development sessions, state testing, and other school events throughout the year.

As an online teacher, you will deliver engaging live and self-paced English instruction while providing individualized support to help students achieve academic success. Using the Stride K12 learning management system, you will monitor student progress, personalize instruction based on individual learning needs, maintain accurate grade records, and prepare students for state and standardized assessments. Building strong relationships with students, parents, and learning coaches through regular communication is a key component of this position.

This full-time opportunity requires educators who can work independently from a professional home office for approximately 40 or more hours per week during regular school hours. Teachers collaborate with administrators and colleagues to improve student outcomes, use data to guide instructional decisions, and adapt lessons to meet varying levels of student mastery. Occasional travel—typically once per month or up to 20% of the time—is required for professional development, student testing, and other school-related activities.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree, an active state teaching license, and the ability to successfully complete a background check. The position offers a base salary of $50,000, along with the opportunity to earn a performance-based bonus.
