My name is Megan Ballock, I am from the United States, and just recently moved to Belo Horizonte.
After graduating from Eudora High School in Eudora, Kansas, United States, I attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, and graduated in December 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
From September 2011 until June 2012, I taught English at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Toledo, Spain. In addition, from August 2012 until February 2013, I taught English at Climb Up Idiomas in Belo Horizonte, where I was responsible for English language instruction for employees at international companies, including Deloitte and Vale.
In July 2013, I accepted a high school teaching position at Wichita High School North in Wichita, Kansas. I was a teacher in the Wichita Public School District in the United States for the 2013-2014 school year.
Through teaching English and living in different countries, I have gained valuable experience, expanded my cultural horizons, and broadened my knowledge of different cultures. I feel like I have greatly increased my level of understanding and acceptance of cultural differences in individuals, which is something that is very essential when teaching, especially when teaching English Language Learners.
