I am an enthusiastic, caring, and adaptable teacher who is focused on fostering a love of learning in all my students and nurturing their academic abilities. I began my teaching journey as a 4-year volunteer with the Peace Corps in Swaziland, where I taught high-school O-level Mathematics and Physics and served as the Head of the Math Department. I then worked with Habitat for Humanity as an International Partner, where I spent 2 years teaching O-level Mathematics. Following this, I developed a career in the U.S. as a Senior Inside Sales Representative within the IT industry, while also maintaining a career as a Private Educator for over 9 years, tutoring elementary through college-level Mathematics, ranging from General Math to College Calculus.
Throughout the past 5 years, I have worked as a full-time, Private Teacher for two families, starting with designing and implementing the full course curriculum, field trips, and excursions for an internationally based family with two brilliant young boys (3rd – 6th grade and 5th – 8th grade). The eldest child during his 8th-grade year, with my guidance, completed the PERT, IELTS, and SSAT exams, and was accepted into several prestigious U.S. boarding schools. The youngest child, impacted by dyslexia and other learning differences, also saw similar academic success. He scored in the 87th percentile on the PERT Exam and 92nd percentile on the Middle School SSAT and completed advanced Algebra II by the end of 6th grade.
After completing the 4-year contract with the first family another family hired me to teach their three children (Kindergarten – 1st grade, 2nd – 3rd grade, and 7th – 8th grade) for a U.S.-based family that embarked on a yearlong, international traveling adventure. I found fun and creative ways to engage the younger students in their course material while helping to instill strong academic foundations and supporting their interests. I also guided the eldest student who previously struggled academically to new educational heights; he completed both his 7th and 8th-grade courses in one year, he has developed a new love for education, built greater confidence in his abilities, and now takes pride in challenging himself to new limits.
