Teaching is a lifelong learning process that involves discovering new philosophies and strategies, as well as learning from the students, parents, and colleagues. I graduated in May 2018 with my Masters in Literacy Education from SUNY New Paltz. Strategies for teaching reading and writing are continually developing, therefore, my education allows me to be current on the latest practices and most effective strategies.
My education has enabled me to research and discuss the effects of Project-Based Learning. I believe Project-Based Learning is an instructional strategy that gives students an exciting and important purpose for learning, which makes them more likely to become actively engaged and motivated to learn. Additionally, I believe every child is different and offers their own unique skills to the classroom. Individualized, student-centered instruction is imperative in helping students grow as lifelong learners. I also believe that there should be a warm and welcoming classroom atmosphere where the children feel safe, comfortable, and enjoy learning.
During my experience as a pre-kindergarten teacher, I have had the opportunity to interact with diverse student populations. Additionally, it has aided in the development of my classroom management skills and flexibility in and out of the classroom. Prior to teaching my own class I was an aide and substitute teacher which has also provided opportunities to see and practice many different types of teaching techniques, further developing my individual teaching style.
I welcome the opportunity to speak with you regarding this position to discuss the results I could bring as a teacher. If you need any additional information please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
