I am a current high school biology and chemistry teacher at an American-based International school in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I have a Master of Science in Nutrition and a Bachelor of Science in Cultural Studies and Biology. I have a teaching license that is current. I have prior clinical and public-education related experience in fields centered in nutrition, health, and mental health. I also spent time teaching in a second-grade classroom in Saudi Arabia which taught me a great deal about classroom management, lesson planning, and student engagement. I have tutoring experience in America and abroad that aids in my ability to connect with students on a personal level. As a teacher, I am able to bring a well-rounded perspective to the science disciplines. I also have a 120 hour EFL certificate and experience teaching English to adults in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

I have had positive experience in the world of academia and I would like to foster positive experience for other students. I like to encourage students to explore and research current topics related to those covered in the classroom. I enjoy encouraging class discussion and asking questions to provoke small group discussion. My goal is to always balance traditional learning with projects and small-group based activity. I try to meet students where they are and work to the individual and unique strengths within the classroom. As a person who highly values continued education, I am constantly seeking continued learning just as I encourage my students to do the same. The world of science is constantly evolving and expanding and staying abreast of these changes enables a more relevant and dynamic learning environment.

Teaching science is a passion that speaks to my natural curiosity of the world around me. I work to instill this same curiosity into my students. As a teacher, it is important for me to discover individual students' passions and try to find ways to utilize those passions so that biology or chemistry class really comes alive. I push students to answer critical thinking questions where they apply what they are learning to real life scenarios. An example of this kind of application is a project about environmental issues that students seem to really enjoy taking ownership of different topics related to the broad concern of environmental issues as a worldwide issue. Throughout my class, I offer various points where students can build on what we are learning in an extracurricular capacity.
