I have been working as a TEFL teacher for 13 years, mainly in Portugal but also in the UK, Spain, Angola and Brazil and have experience of teaching all ages and levels including preparation for Cambridge and Trinity exams and ESP for Business, Nursing and Engineering. I pride myself on my professionalism, am still enthusiastic about teaching and have endless reserves of energy and (more importantly) patience.

As for my approach to teaching; I see myself as a resource to be used by the students to assist and encourage their autonomous learning. I like to use a variety of interesting topics and activities focusing on authentic, functional activities with an emphasis on learning to communicate through interaction in the target language so that students are more motivated and engaged and, also, they are likely to practise more. Also I find that using student’s own personal experiences are important as elements in fluency-based activities to encourage and to develop their confidence.
