I am interested in teaching English Language Arts and in becoming fluent in Spanish. I am a strong collaborator, have expertise in implementing critical thinking in the classroom, fostering a positive learning environment, and differentiating instruction with innovative lesson planning and technological instruction. I implement the Common Core Standards and formative and summative assessments to measure student growth. I am certified to teach English language learners; I have mentored new teachers and student teachers; I have personal experience with special needs children, have been an adviser to students for 20 years, and have published a literary magazine. I have BA in English and an MA in Education, plus 21 full years of teaching experience in a secondary school in English Language Arts, one semester of teaching middle school, and English as a second language.
