TESOL/TEFL Certification Course Training

Imagine endless opportunities to travel the world, while getting paid. Visit Santiago. Learn French. Hike the Himalayas.

If you are a native or native-equivalent English speaker, these and many other doors can be opened for you by getting a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification. The courses give you an introduction to the specifics of teaching EFL and help you develop important skills that will turn your ability to speak English into your ability to teach it.

Getting your TESOL/TEFL certification makes you eligible for more TEFL jobs, significantly broadening your TEFL options. No prior teaching experience is necessary for the certification, though additional requirements are job-specific and often (though certainly not always) include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.

There are numerous ways to get certified, and it’s important to do some research on the organization before you commit. Take a look at some of these well-received online courses and see if they’re the right fit!

i-to-i offers both online courses and combination courses that include classroom experience of varying hours. The site also includes information beyond the certification, including help with choosing a place to work and advice on how to get hired. They also offer a TEFL Taster Quiz so that you can evaluate whether or not TEFL is right for you. If you still have questions about program specifics, or are still unsure about some general TEFL details, request a consultation with an i-to-I TEFL advisor!

ICAL is another online certification program that allows you to work at your own pace. Access to articles on all aspects of TESOL, access to WorkSmart to aid you in finding work upon certification, and a private tutor to help you as you go through the course are all included in the price. The tutor will also provide you with a reference letter to help build up your resume.

BridgeTEFL offers online courses with a few options for in-person courses throughout the world. The courses are do-at-your-own-pace and include videos, quizzes, and written portions to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the material. With the course, you will have access to the additional online resource Grammar Advisor, which focuses on making grammar easy and understandable to teach. A private tutor grades work, gives feedback, and is available to answer all of your questions.

There are also onsite TESOL/TEFL certification courses available, which can be highly beneficial as they provide you with in-person experience similar to what you will experience in the classroom. Courses vary from city to city, so keep your eyes and ears open for some near you!

Your adventure begins with your TESOL/TEFL certification. Find the course that’s right for you and begin the journey!
