Part-Time Homeschool Teacher in Whispering Pines

Teachers To Go is looking for a part-time in-person homeschool teacher to help homeschool two girls who are 8 and 11 years old (and occasionally assist their largely independent 14 year old sister with weekly check-ins and time management) at their home in Whispering Pines, NC 28327. This is a great opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time position teaching three wonderful girls Monday-Friday from 8:30am-12:30pm that pays $35/hour ($700/week) with Tuesdays working from home (for lesson planning), 4 weeks paid vacation per year, plus a retainer of 50% salary for any additional time the family is traveling. This opportunity will begin in mid-August for the upcoming school year. A female teacher is preferred, since the students are female.

Looking for a teacher who is fun, engaging, and super creative, who can come up with ideas and facilitate project-based activities that are hands-on and outside the box while aligning to the children’s education, so the kids will enjoy homeschool and develop a love of learning. The ability to cultivate interest and develop a love of learning is the first priority. Candidates should love working with children and enjoy creating an engaging learning environment.

The right teacher will be warm and enthusiastic, and able to contribute her experience while partnering with the mom to deliver their chosen homeschool curricula. (The parents are willing to collaborate with the teacher about the curricula that is used, but it will be adaptable to the students, and will not have a classroom feel or simulate a traditional classroom environment.) Looking for a teacher who is able to go beyond standard curriculum to deliver a rich, experiential learning environment that connects academic concepts to real-world application and prepares the children not just for school, but for life.

Applicants should enjoy creating a learning environment where children are able to be curious and ask questions. (The family is looking for a teacher to help teach critical thinking, not just worksheets and rote learning.) The right teacher will be dependable and consistent, yet flexible and able to customize to the needs and abilities of each student. The right teacher will also be enthusiastic about planning experiential on-site and off-site learning excursions. (In addition, the ability to speak Spanish as a second language would be a plus, but it is not a requirement.)

Applicants should have a minimum Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of teaching experience. While a teaching certification is preferred, the right person is the most important qualification for this position. Requirements

Must have a minimum Bachelor’s degree, and at least 2 years of teaching experience. Teaching certification is preferred, but not required. Must be comfortable teaching all subjects through the 6th grade level and collaborating with the parent as co-teacher in a homeschool environment. Ability to also teach and speak Spanish is a plus, but not required. Must have your own reliable transportation & cell phone, and must be able to travel to the home of the students in Whispering Pines, NC 28327 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30am-12:30pm.
