This Puerto Rico–based family is seeking an experienced private homeschool educator to lead the education of their two children (9 & 12 years old) in a highly personalized and engaging learning environment. The primary focus will initially be their son entering 8th grade who is transitioning from independent study into a more structured, academically rigorous homeschool program. Their daughter, entering 5th grade, will begin homeschooling for the first time this fall. Both children are active, social, and enjoy outdoor activities, games, music, animals, and hands-on learning. The family values intellectual curiosity, independent thinking, and creating a stimulating homeschool experience. The household also includes numerous rescued indoor cats, making a cat-friendly educator a requirement.

The ideal candidate is an outgoing, experienced homeschool teacher who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced family environment and is passionate about inspiring a lifelong love of learning. The educator should possess strong expertise in mathematics, English, writing, research, and critical thinking while preparing students for advanced academic achievement and competitive testing. Experience designing curriculum, leading STEAM projects, strengthening analytical and research skills, and responsibly incorporating AI into education is highly valued. The educator must maintain open communication with the parents, collaborate on educational planning, recommend outside specialists when appropriate, and embrace the family's neutral, open-minded philosophy that encourages independent thought without political or religious bias.

The educator will take full responsibility for designing, implementing, and overseeing the children's homeschool program, with particular emphasis on mathematics, English, and advanced coursework in pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. Responsibilities include developing engaging lesson plans, teaching science and STEAM through hands-on projects, strengthening writing and research abilities, tracking academic progress, coordinating supplemental instructors, and recommending curricula and enrichment opportunities. The role also incorporates experiential learning during frequent family travel, including extended stays in Connecticut and on the ocean, where marine biology and ocean-based education are encouraged alongside age-appropriate discussions of history and economics.

Candidates should have at least three years of professional teaching experience in both classroom and homeschool settings, experience selecting and developing curriculum for middle-school students, a Bachelor's degree, and exceptional English instruction and research skills. Applicants must be willing to present a sample lesson during the interview process, possess a valid passport and driver's license, be able to swim and supervise children around water, and be comfortable living and working in a home with many indoor cats. Spanish proficiency is considered a strong asset but is not required. The family offers housing for the employee (and partner, if applicable), though accommodations are limited to the employee and partner only and cannot include additional family members or pets. Ability to also speak Spanish is preferred, but not required.
