The Director of Academics provides strategic leadership for an innovative, AI-powered educational model designed to accelerate student learning through mastery-based instruction and learning science. This executive-level role is responsible for developing and executing the organization's academic vision, translating research into scalable instructional frameworks, and ensuring consistent implementation across multiple schools. The Director serves as the organization's academic leader, driving continuous improvement, fostering accountability, and representing the academic model with educators, policymakers, and other external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include developing academic frameworks that integrate learning science with curriculum, instructional technology, and student motivation systems; leading academic performance reviews across school leadership teams; analyzing data, observations, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improving student outcomes; establishing strategic priorities, performance metrics, and accountability systems; and serving as the public face of the organization's academic model through presentations, partnerships, and engagement with educational leaders and government agencies.
The ideal candidate holds a master's or doctoral degree in learning science, educational psychology, instructional design, or a related field, with at least seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience in education or EdTech. Candidates should demonstrate success leading large academic teams, improving student achievement, implementing AI and emerging technologies to enhance personalized learning, and managing instructional performance. Strong leadership, communication, strategic planning, and change management skills are essential, along with experience collaborating directly with students, teachers, and school administrators to achieve measurable educational outcomes.
