Elite Private Tutor for British American Family

A prestigious British American family is seeking an exceptional, highly experienced private tutor to support their children during their annual six-month stay in Florida. The children attend the American School in London during the autumn semester and transition to remote learning in Florida during the spring semester. Beginning in January 2027, the successful candidate will work with the family for approximately six months each year, with the opportunity to continue for several years. This position is ideal for an experienced classroom teacher, curriculum planner and top quality private tutor who can create an engaging, personalized and academically rigorous learning experience.

The tutor will be responsible for delivering and adapting the children’s educational program while making Florida an extension of the classroom. The successful candidate will incorporate museums, galleries, beaches, marine environments, parks, historical landmarks, cultural institutions, and other local resources into lessons and educational activities. Opportunities for educational travel throughout Florida and, when appropriate, elsewhere in the United States may also be incorporated. The ideal candidate will be creative and resourceful, able to turn real-world experiences and travel into meaningful opportunities that develop the children’s knowledge, curiosity, independence, and understanding of the wider world.

Languages, music, and the arts are also valued components of the children’s education. Candidates should be fluent in French and/or Italian and have at least a strong working knowledge of the other language. The family is looking for someone who can contribute well beyond the core academic curriculum and serve as an outstanding role model. The tutor will be polished, educated, intellectually curious, adaptable, enthusiastic, and committed to maintaining excellent personal values, manners, and professional standards.

The successful candidate should be fit, healthy, active, and a non-smoker with a genuine passion for outdoor activities and exploration. This is a full-time role requiring approximately 40 hours per week, with two consecutive days off each week and approximately 4.5 weeks of vacation per six-month period. Accommodation and a car are provided. Compensation is £147,000 GBP per six-month assignment with the position beginning in January 2027, and offering the potential for a long-term, renewable arrangement over several years.
