Remote Learning Scientist - Early Literacy

Our innovative education company is seeking a remote Early Literacy Learning Scientist to help advance the development of effective educational products for young learners. This role focuses on building and refining research-based models of early literacy development for students in PreK through Grade 5. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in early literacy, including the science of reading and dyslexia, and will use research and learning science principles to improve educational experiences and outcomes.

The Learning Scientist will design and conduct both quantitative and qualitative research and validation studies to evaluate learning products and understand student outcomes. Responsibilities include analyzing user research and learning data to determine product effectiveness, identifying opportunities for improvement, and translating research findings into actionable recommendations. The position requires a strong ability to connect educational theory, research evidence, and practical product development.

Collaboration is central to this position. The Learning Scientist will work closely with other learning scientists, engineers, UX researchers, and product managers to develop and enhance educational solutions. The role also includes producing detailed research documentation, such as white papers, technical reports, and other research materials, while managing projects effectively and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience working within agile development environments is preferred.

Candidates must hold a PhD or EdD in a relevant discipline such as literacy education, psychology, learning sciences, or a related field. Strong research and analytical skills are required, including proficiency with R or Python for quantitative research, and/or qualitative analysis platforms such as ATLAS.ti, MAXQDA, or NVivo. Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills are also important. The position offers an annual salary range of $95,000–$105,000.
