STEAM Teacher

Our innovative school is seeking a creative and dedicated STEAM Teacher to provide arts-focused instruction, while supporting small-group learning across academic subjects. STEAM teachers play an important role in connecting arts education with STEM concepts, using creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning to strengthen students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic skills. The position reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal, and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student achievement and opportunity.

The teacher will integrate the arts into the broader curriculum, while delivering rigorous instruction using the provided curriculum and building strong content expertise. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, working with instructional coaches to personalize teaching, reviewing student data to guide planning, and collaborating with special education staff to ensure students who need additional support are fully included. Teachers will also support students’ social-emotional development through intentional SEL instruction and collaboration with the school’s Wellness team.

Building strong partnerships with students and families is an essential part of the role. Teachers will communicate regularly with parents, conduct annual home visits, participate in community events and monthly family engagement activities, and maintain transparent communication about academic and behavioral goals and student progress. We provide ongoing professional development, classroom coaching, and feedback to help teachers grow. Successful candidates should be resilient, flexible, collaborative, receptive to feedback, reflective, and committed to doing what is best for students while helping close the opportunity gap.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and either hold a valid teaching credential or enroll in an accredited credentialing program during their first year with Rocketship. The organization supports teachers who need to transfer an out-of-state credential or enter a credentialing program. Prior experience in urban education is preferred. The position offers an annual salary of $73,000–$86,000 and requires a strong commitment to the school’s mission, professional responsibilities, collaboration, continuous improvement, and creating a positive school culture.
