High School Science & Biology Teacher

Remote community local school board is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking full-time high school science teacher to join its community-focused team. The board is committed to creating an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, indigenization, inquiry-based learning, and land-based education. The successful candidate will help provide a holistic, competency-based educational experience that respects and celebrates Indigenous knowledge, traditions, and community values.

The educator will collaborate with fellow teachers, elders, and community members to develop and deliver curriculum rooted in Indigenous perspectives and competency-based learning. The role includes incorporating local Indigenous culture into instruction, creating meaningful learning experiences, and ensuring educational programs reflect the needs and heritage of the communities served. The teacher will also support inquiry-based instructional practices and competency-based assessment and evaluation.

One of the key responsibilities will be promoting equity, inclusion, and a strong sense of belonging for all students. The science teacher will work closely with families and community partners, gathering feedback and building relationships that strengthen educational programming. The position will also involve developing land-based learning opportunities that connect students with the local environment, traditional practices, Indigenous knowledge, and the cultural significance of the land.

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, have legal authorization to work in Canada (citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work visa), and pass a clean criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check. The ideal applicant will have strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions, along with experience in inquiry-based instruction, curriculum implementation, competency-based education, and assessment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of the region's inclusive schooling practices, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and land-based education are also essential. This is a full-time position with salary of $95,232–$153,748, plus a living allowance.
