Special Education Social Studies Teacher (Grades 1–8)

Our small private school is seeking a dedicated Special Education Social Studies Teacher to support students in grades 1 through 8 by creating meaningful learning experiences that promote academic, emotional, physical, and social development. The teacher will work to help each student reach their individual potential, while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities include developing and adapting the Social Studies curriculum and preparing engaging lessons and instructional materials that are appropriate for students with varying abilities and learning needs. The teacher will differentiate instruction to provide accelerated learning opportunities in areas where students are ready for greater challenge while offering targeted remediation where additional support is needed.

The ideal candidate will incorporate students’ interests and strengths into instruction to increase engagement and encourage a genuine interest in learning. Success in this role requires flexibility, a growth mindset, and a commitment to meeting diverse student needs. The teacher will also work closely with support staff and colleagues to coordinate services, share strategies, and strengthen student outcomes. Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with a willingness to work as part of a team, are essential for this position.
