Language Arts & Literature Teacher / 1:1 Focus Instructor

Our college prep school is seeking a passionate Language Arts & Literature Classroom Teacher and 1:1 Focus Instructor. This is a full-time, in-person position available for immediate hire. The teacher will provide instruction in both classroom and individual settings, using multisensory strategies, repetition, and differentiated techniques to address students’ specific learning needs.

Responsibilities include literacy remediation in decoding, encoding, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing, as well as planning engaging lessons that encourage students to observe, question, investigate, and apply new skills. The teacher will establish clear learning objectives, maintain a positive classroom environment, manage student behavior, keep accurate records, and monitor both academic and social-emotional progress.

The successful candidate will hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Literacy, English, Special Education, or a related field. A master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Reading, Special Education, or a Learning Specialist designation is highly preferred. At least two years of experience teaching language arts or specialized literacy to students in grades 3–12 is required, with experience supporting students with learning differences preferred. Training in evidence-based, multisensory literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Lindamood-Bell, PAF, or SRSD is a strong advantage. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication, organization, classroom management, flexibility, collaboration, and proficiency with Google Workspace, Meet, and Classroom.

Teachers work closely with families, administrators, specialists, social workers, and other professionals to develop individualized educational plans and provide regular progress updates. The school offers health insurance, HSA/FSA options, paid sick leave, professional development, retirement matching after two years, commuter benefits, and additional pay for extracurricular responsibilities.
