Early Childhood/Lower School Head Teacher (PK2 - PK4)

Our high performing independent school with a globally diverse community representing more than 130 countries is looking for an Early Childhood/Lower School Head Teacher for PK2-PK4. Our school combines academic excellence, innovation, and an international perspective to prepare students from 12 months through grade 12 for future college and career opportunities. The successful candidate will join an international academic collaborative learning environment.

The teacher will design and deliver engaging units aligned with the school's mission and philosophy, emphasizing inquiry, creativity, critical thinking, and student independence. Instruction should incorporate differentiated individual and small-group support, along with discussions, projects, exhibits, field trips, audiovisual and library resources, and educational technology. Teachers will create a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom using Responsive Classroom practices, monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments, and help students strengthen their learning habits and academic skills.

The position also involves providing academic and behavioral support, identifying concerns, and working with appropriate school professionals when additional assistance is needed. Teachers will maintain regular communication with families regarding academic progress, attendance, social-emotional development, and potential concerns through conferences and other methods. Additional responsibilities include supporting transitions, recess, and lunch duties; collaborating with colleagues on instructional goals and curriculum; attending faculty and staff meetings; participating in school committees and community events; completing assigned duties such as test proctoring; and maintaining a professional, positive presence both in and outside the classroom.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Education, have at least three years of teaching experience in a high-performing school, and possess the appropriate certification or licensure for the relevant age group. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and assessing curriculum, interpreting multiple forms of student data to guide instruction, and integrating technology into teaching. Excellent written communication, public speaking, presentation, collaboration, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous professional growth are essential.
