Electives Elementary School Teacher (PE emphasis)

Our elementary school is seeking a dedicated Physical Education and Electives Teacher in East Los Angeles, California. The ideal educator will provide rigorous, engaging instruction aligned with the Common Core while using Universal Design for Learning and intellectual preparation to ensure lessons are accessible to students with varied learning styles and abilities. Teachers are encouraged to create innovative lessons that maintain high academic expectations while addressing individual student needs.

The teacher will build a positive classroom culture centered on respect, emotional safety, and active learning. Responsibilities include teaching physical education and electives such as Art, co-teaching standards-based lessons, providing targeted small-group instruction, and delivering evidence-based interventions for students requiring additional academic support. The role also involves planning and adapting instruction with colleagues, grading assignments and assessments, supporting classroom management and engagement, and using student data to guide planning and measure progress.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong content knowledge, instructional skills, organization, collaboration, and communication abilities, along with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional improvement. Teachers are expected to reflect on and refine their practices, uphold the school's core values, take personal responsibility for student outcomes, and build strong partnerships with families and the broader community. A bachelor’s degree is required, and candidates must complete a TB test and background check upon receiving an offer.

Credentialed teachers currently earn $73,218–$131,825, depending on education and experience.
