Full-Time Homeschool Teacher – First Grade

We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced in-home homeschool teacher to work full-time with our 7-year-old son. He is an imaginative and wonderful child who would benefit from the structure and individualized attention of a one-on-one learning environment. The teacher will come to our home each weekday to provide a comprehensive first-grade education and help him develop the academic skills and confidence needed for long-term success.

Our son was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and his kindergarten experience made it clear that focused, individualized instruction may be the best educational approach for him. We hope to continue homeschooling for approximately two years, or until he has developed the skills, strategies, and independence necessary to thrive with less intensive support. The ideal teacher will be patient, encouraging, adaptable, and comfortable tailoring instruction to his learning needs.

In addition to covering core first-grade academics, we would like the daily homeschool routine to include opportunities for enrichment and hands-on learning. Dedicated time for subjects such as art, science, and physical education/gym is important to us. We are currently exploring different homeschool curricula and welcome recommendations from an experienced educator who can help select materials and develop an effective academic plan.

Candidates should have a strong background in elementary education and special education, with experience supporting children with ADHD or similar learning needs. Our son has recently been introduced to the Fundations program, so familiarity with Fundations and Wilson Reading System approaches would be a plus. Reliability and professional references are required for this position.

Qualifications & Responsibilities:

-Full-time, in-home instruction for a 7-year-old first-grade student

-Provide individualized, one-on-one academic instruction

-Teach first-grade core subjects and foundational skills

-Support attention, organization, confidence, and independent learning

-Incorporate art, science, gym, and other enrichment activities

-Develop or recommend an appropriate homeschool curriculum

-Experience in elementary education and special education

-Familiarity with Fundations and/or Wilson Reading System preferred

-Experience working with students with ADHD is highly valued

-Must be dependable, consistent, patient, and engaging

-Professional references are required

-Long-term commitment of approximately two years preferred
