Live-In Part-Time Early Childhood Private Educator

A warm and loving family is seeking an experienced Private Educator/Early Childhood Teacher to provide engaging, developmentally appropriate education for three children, ages 6, 5, and 4. This is a dedicated teaching position, as the family already employs a nanny. The ideal educator will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine passion for creating a structured, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. Lessons should be tailored to each child's developmental stage, learning style, interests and individual needs, while making education enjoyable.

The educator will be responsible for planning and delivering an age-appropriate homeschool program covering foundational subjects such as early literacy, numeracy, language, science, arts, and other areas of early childhood development. Responsibilities will include creating hands-on lessons, projects, and activities; monitoring the children's progress; adapting instruction as needed; and establishing positive daily learning routines. The teacher will also incorporate real-world learning experiences through educational outings to museums, libraries, parks, cultural attractions, and other appropriate venues. Collaboration with the parents regarding curriculum, educational goals, and progress is required, as is working closely with the existing nanny to maintain consistency between the children's educational program and daily routines.

This is a permanent live-in position with part-time hours, requiring approximately 20 hours or more per week, typically spread across four days with approximately 4–5 hours of teaching per day. The exact schedule is flexible and will be established with the family based on the children's needs, activities, and family schedule, with occasional flexibility required. The family is primarily based in New York, but spends approximately six months each year in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, so the educator must be comfortable traveling between both residences. A private bedroom and bathroom will be provided for the teacher at each residence. The anticipated salary is $70,000–$90,000 per year.

Candidates should have at least 3–5 years of professional teaching or private education experience, with previous homeschooling or multi-child private education experience strongly preferred. A formal qualification in early childhood education, elementary education, teaching, or a related field is preferred, along with a strong understanding of early childhood development and learning milestones. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, patient, warm, nurturing, highly organized, proactive, discreet, and adaptable, with the ability to manage children at different developmental levels. Strong communication skills, excellent references, experience working in private households, flexibility with family schedules, and the willingness to live in and travel between New York and Fort Lauderdale are required.
