$210,000 per year
A Dallas, Texas family is seeking an accomplished, globally minded private teacher and educational strategist to guide the long-term education and development of their 7 year old son, currently in 2nd grade. The role will begin next year toward the end of summer 2027, and is expected to last at least one year with annual renewal. The family is exploring a highly individualized educational model that may eventually transition from traditional schooling to a private, hybrid, home-based or world-schooling approach. The educator will work closely with the parents to evaluate the child’s current education, shape future strategy, and provide a rigorous yet engaging learning experience focused on academics, character, independence, resilience, critical thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
The 7 year old student is curious, enjoys numbers and problem solving, and has a particular interest in architecture and building. He previously thrived in Montessori and responds well to a balance of autonomy, structure, hands-on learning, and encouragement. The teacher will develop a customized curriculum drawing on Montessori principles, Finnish-inspired education, and project-based learning, incorporating literacy, mathematics, science, global history, architecture, reading, languages, arts, and diversity studies. Learning should emphasize conceptual understanding, real-world application, creativity, experimentation, and independent thought. The educator will also support executive functioning, emotional regulation, persistence, communication, organization, and the development of a positive attitude toward challenges and setbacks.
Social development is a major priority, particularly because the family does not want alternative education to result in isolation. Therefore, the teacher will also help coordinate meaningful peer relationships through sports, arts, clubs, learning groups, extracurricular activities, and other carefully selected opportunities. The role also includes supporting cultural awareness and global literacy, with international travel anticipated as part of a potential world-schooling model. The educator will maintain academic continuity while using travel and new environments as learning opportunities. A strong personal interest in lifelong learning is important, as the family wants the teacher to serve as a genuine role model. Competence in piano, cello, or another musical instrument is preferred, while foreign-language skills and diverse cultural, creative, entrepreneurial, or intellectual interests are also highly valued.
The ideal candidate will be highly educated, articulate, proactive, emotionally intelligent, culturally sensitive, and comfortable balancing strategic educational planning with hands-on teaching. Professional independence, discretion, strong boundaries, and the ability to work closely within a private family environment are essential. The position averages a maximum of 40 hours per week, with two consecutive days off (normally taken midweek), and a minimum of nine weeks total vacation annually.
The family will provide a private apartment and car in Dallas, and all work-related international travel expenses will be covered. The position offers $210,000 USD annually, with accommodation and car provided. In addition to domestic candidates, we are also open to qualified British or international candidates who can bring a broad global perspective. The successful candidate should be physically fit, healthy, and a non-smoker.
