Hi, my name is Teraina Mataoa but everyone calls me Terai or "T". I'm from the beautiful island of Tahiti (French Polynesian) right in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I'm currently working as a 'Biobank Technician' here in Tahiti while doing on my Master in Pharmacogenomics with the University of Cincinnati (Ohio).
I'm really easy going, kind, and funny sometimes but I do love when everything is well planned and organized. I love cooking, baking, and traditional dance (Ori Tahiti or the hip dance). I also sow/hem clothes. But I'm mostly interested in medicinal plants, traditional/alternative medicine. I love biology and how everything is connected.
Throughout my years of undergrad I was able to gain experiences as a 'Research Assitant' and 'Teacher Assistant' for one of my professors. I learn how to simple up biology topics for non-native english speaking students. As a non-native english speaker myself, I know how it can be difficult to understand science if it's not in your native tongue. Using my personal experiences, I can help and adapt the learning process according to the student.
