I received my master’s-level TEFL certification in Florence, Italy in June of 2016, and have been teaching ESL at an intense pace ever since. I have logged over 450 classroom teaching hours (in Italy) and the U.S.), and have taught all levels from beginner to advanced. My students run the gamut of ages, from age 7 to age 60.

I have experience teaching students who are preparing for examinations (such as TOEFL, Cambridge First, Cambridge PET, and University exams.) I use a number of teaching techniques and employ a combination of resources, including textbooks, video, music, and numerous conversation activities that I have culled from various sources.

My goal with each lesson is to achieve an 75/25 split between Student Talking Time and Teacher Talking Time. I emphasize comprehension over grammar, but I am well-trained in the teaching of English grammar. I endeavor to make the learning process meaningful and to take into account the student’s values, cultural background, personal interests, family relationships, life experience, and prior knowledge.

In addition to my TEFL certification, I possess a bachelor's in English literature from Boston College.
