I am certified to teach English as a Second Language and Spanish. I have my masters from Christian Brothers University, and am trained through the SMILA reading program, which is targeted toward struggling readers.

I believe everyone can learn, but not everyone learns the same way. I believe in a multisensory approach, which means drawing upon visual, auditory, and kinesthetic modalities. Beginning language learning should be interactive, focused on conversation. I am a firm believer in the phonics approach to reading instruction, where confidence is gained through breaking the language into parts. I also teach writing based on the 6 1 traits, a systematic method focused on modeling and guided practice which leads to independence.
