I retired in 2012 from a wonderful career in higher education. However, that being said, I am finding it difficult to “retire” and eagerly seek out opportunities to continue teaching and working with young adults to older adults. I am CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certified through the University of Cambridge, England and am currently working with three English as Second Language programs in Boise, ID. I chose ESL teaching as part of my encore career because I enjoy working with adults, college, and high school students from cultures whose languages and customs are different from mine.
As a former director of international education and a firm believer in experiential learning I have found that travel, especially into unfamiliar territory, challenges us in so many ways, both physically and mentally. Consequently, I am always seeking out opportunities to explore and journey into new regions of our world.
I enjoy hiking, cycling, rafting white water rivers, conversation, reading, music (especially live) and travel. I adapt quickly to different living environments, cultures and cuisine. I am an intermediate Spanish language learner. Just because I am retired from the traditional workforce, does not mean I have retired from life. I look forward to learning more about the opportunities available through LRNGO Meet and Learn Worldwide.
