I believe great teaching lives at the intersection of high expectations and genuine warmth. Children rise to meet you when they trust you, and trust is built one honest moment at a time.
I'm Elise, an elementary school teacher with a Master's in Education from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor's Degree in History from University of Texas at Austin. I also have over a decade of experience working with children across early childhood through upper elementary. I hold a Texas Teaching Certificate (EC-6 Generalist), a ESL Supplemental certification, and I'm a TELPAS Certified Rater.
The best teachers I ever had weren't the ones with the perfect lesson plans (although I do). They were the ones who really saw me, and that's the kind of teacher I work to be every day. Life has handed me plenty of opportunities to learn through trial and error, and that has made me a more thoughtful, grounded, and trustworthy educator. Kids can tell when an adult truly sees them, and I make sure each of my students feels it.
Outside of teaching, my 6 year old son is my whole world. We spend our time exploring new places, reading together, and learning side by side. I'm also a 200 hour certified yoga instructor and a lifelong reader with a soft spot for fantasy and horror novels. Yoga and reading are two of the practices that keep me curious, calm, and centered, and I bring that same energy into the classroom.
I'd love to connect with families and schools who value warmth, high expectations, and an educator who shows up fully for every child.
