My name is Kim Bassett, and I am excited to meet you!
I am a mom to three children, ages 17, 19, and 20. I have spent the past 27 years in some form of education, ranging from Homeschooling my own children, to teaching Early Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Reading Intervention. I have also been a Nanny for several families, serving as a Tutor and Home Manager in addition.
I love to read and learn new things, as well as teach Reading, Writing, and Math (up to third grade). I have a warm and nurturing approach, and enjoy establishing communicative relationships with students and their families. A strength of mine is the ability to quickly get to know my students, meet them where they are, and educate and encourage them in fun and creative ways.
I have teaching certification in the state of Texas in General Education EC-6, Special Education EC-12, and ESL EC-12. I have spent a lot of time with many different populations of children and students, as well as in multiple types of schools ranging from Nature Based, Classical, Montessori, Charlotte Mason, and traditional, and I believe that differentiation and engagement is key in all aspects of education. I am looking forward to working with you!
