With a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Language and Literacy Education, I have developed a strong foundation in literacy instruction, intervention, and data-driven decision-making. I am passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and collaborating with educators and families to ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop strong literacy skills and confidence as a learner.
During my time as a reading specialist in the Gettysburg Area School District, I provided targeted reading interventions to elementary students through both small-group and individualized instruction. I regularly monitored student progress, analyzed assessment data, and worked closely with classroom teachers to support instructional planning and ensure that students received appropriate interventions and supports. My role also involved maintaining communication with families and collaborating with staff to help students make meaningful academic progress.
In addition to my experience as a reading specialist, I have also served as an elementary classroom teacher across several grade levels. In these roles, I have designed and implemented standards-aligned instruction guided by the Pennsylvania Core Standards, used assessment data to inform instruction, and differentiated lessons to meet the needs of all learners. I also have significant experience integrating technology to enhance learning, particularly through my work in a cyber school environment, which has strengthened my ability to use digital tools and platforms to support student engagement and communication.
Creating a safe and nurturing learning environment is central to my teaching philosophy. I strive to build strong relationships with students so they feel respected, supported, and motivated to take academic risks. I also value collaboration and enjoy working closely with colleagues to analyze student data, share instructional strategies, and contribute to a strong professional learning community.
