I believe my teaching experience and passion for student engagement make me an ideal
candidate for a teaching position at your school. During my years at a charter school in NJ I have taught math and literacy in both Kindergarten, Second Grade, and Fourth Grade. I currently
teach fourth grade writing, guided reading, and read aloud to two homeroom classrooms both
with 30 students. This year I have been using the science of reading to guide my instruction. In
my first year being a full time teacher I had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten during normal school hours and for two hours at night as well. This opportunity allowed me to have multiple interviews with news broadcast stations such as CNN and the New York Times about this program.

I have experience teaching elementary and preschool level students in a variety of settings. I
have been teaching in a charter school setting for six years now. While teaching fourth grade I
have taught students with the same curriculum goals as your school district. My goal as an ELA
teacher is to teach to the standards to allow students a transferable skill to use with multiple
readings and content work. As a current lifeguard and swim instructor at a day camp, I also have
the experience of teaching classes outside of a school environment.

For the past two years I have had the opportunity to be in a leadership role within my school and
grade level as the grade level chair. Grade Level Chairs serve as the leaders of our core academic and cultural work with a particular grade level or team. Grade Level Chairs drive the vision for their grade level and ensure that day-to-day logistics, schedule, and operations are a reflection of the vision. I also manage and develop teachers on the team, guiding them to become strong classroom managers and competent instructional leaders in their classrooms.
