Hello! I'm Laurie and I'm passionate about instilling in children a love of learning! I have many years of experience in education, from homeschooling to virtual schools to bricks and mortar schools.

My area of expertise is in teaching reading, but I am well-versed in all subject areas and am very versatile teaching a wide age-range and subject areas, from kindergarten through 6th grade.

I homeschooled my own five children through their elementary years and even into middle school age. Each one had their own unique learning style and interests, which I supported through individualized instruction and curriculum.

I also have several years of teaching in public schools, both in virtual settings and school buildings. I was fortunate to be part of an innovative virtual school in Kansas, Maize Virtual Preparatory School, where I assisted parents in choosing appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of their children and providing online enrichment opportunities for students in grades K-8 schoolwide. I also met frequently with students one-on-one online to provide direct instruction and/or assist them in their school work.

I am currently working as a reading specialist with students in grades K-5, using our school's intervention programs, along with an Orton-Gillingham program. I also provide math interventions for some of the grade levels as needed. I hold a Wyoming teaching certificate.
