Hi everyone! I'm a NY based documentary filmmaker with 10 years of experience in post-production. Also, I am a Spanish and English native - I grew up in Mexico and Arizona. I have experience teaching film and languages and I am very interested in meeting people to trade my skills and learn new ones!
I'm an alumnus from the School of Visual Arts and I have credits for short and feature films. If you'd like to learn how to make youtube videos, record yourself, get advice on what equipment to use, how to use it, how to film, edit and export/upload, I could definitely help you!
I have been wanting to learn French for a long time, I have many French friends, so learning conversational French is my priority. I would also love to learn Japanese, I love Tokyo and would like to go back at some point and be able to communicate! My level of both, French and Japanese is zero, but I am a fast learner and would love to get tips and do homework on my own! I am hoping I can trade my Spanish, English or both with someone native French or Japanese - pronunciation is important for me so that's top of my list! I can teach different levels of English and Spanish, depending on your needs. I still work with people in Spain and Mexico so I can teach business levels for both. If you'd like to learn filmmaking, I can definitely do that too.
As far as the other skills I am interested in learning more about, I am very interested in meeting horsey people. I love horses and would love to trade to learn more about horseback riding. I am a beginner but not an absolute beginner. I can trot and I have my own gear but I still get nervous when I canter and gallop. I learned English-style with a jumper but I am interested in other styles as well. Send me a message if you are interested, maybe even just to be in touch and go on trail rides! I'm also interested in tennis, I used to take tennis in high school and loved it but I haven't played in years and would love to partner up this spring!
For music, I play guitar and I DJ but I have always been interested in drums and learn more about guitar and DJing. I have performance experience as a DJ with Pioneer CDJs, I have played a couple of sets at the Delancey but I am very interested in learning other techniques with other genres to expand my knowledge. I often play techno and house. I have learned to scratch vinyl a long time ago and I am interested in learning more about it again - I used Serato combined with actual LPs but mainly the Serato vinyl. I also know basic keyboard I record sometimes for my tracks on Ableton but would love to learn more. When it comes to audio production I feel I could learn a lot more with some guidance so I am very interested in that as well. This is another reason why I would love to learn drums and tune in more to what I am thinking of in my head, maybe even record my own drums instead of using the drum-packs I've bought.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Karina
