I love to teach! I have taught after school programs in technology for ten years and elementary school for ten years (kindergarten, second, third and fifth grade), and have occasionally given private lessons for music. I have a BM in music performance, a MEd in elementary education pre-k through 6th Grade, and a current teaching license for Virginia.

I am enthusiastic about taking children outside to play in nature - even in the rain and mud! - learning on hikes in the woods, discovering bugs and plants, hands-on experiences in the kitchen and with tools, and teaching how to use technology in a safe, responsible and productive way. At the same time, I plan for lessons based on Virginia standards and DoD standards, create and choose a variety of assessments to determine needs of the whole child, and set expectations for periods of study, productivity and rest for my students.

My primary goal now is to tutor children age 5-11 in math, reading and language arts. I am also looking for an opportunity to teach a few children (any age 5-11) alongside my own daughter who I will be homeschooling for first grade in the 2026-2027 school year.
