TEFL Certification Nashville, Tennessee

Whether you’ve lived there your whole life or you’re a more recent inhabitant of the Music City, you may feel that it’s time to broaden your horizons. Perhaps you have eyes that long for new sights, a passion for exploring new cultures, a desire to learn a new language, or all three. Fortunately for you, you have the power to make those dreams a reality—and get paid.

Use the language skills that you have had for nearly your whole life to get a job teaching EFL and you will have the ability to teach English all over the world. Requirements for each job position vary, though they often (not always) include native or native-equivalent English skills, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and a TESOL/TEFL certification.

Finding the certification course right for you can be a bit of a challenge as there are so many possibilities out there, but we’ve compiled a list of some options, both online and in-person, right in Nashville.

Tennessee Foreign Language Institute is a non-profit certification program established by the State Legislature that provides in-person TESOL/TEFL certification courses in Nashville. The courses are intensive, including in-class instruction as well as field training, and class sizes are small. The benefits to getting certified in an onsite environment include getting taught person-to-person and gaining field experience that will give you a taste of actually teaching EFL.

i-to-i is an organization that offers both online courses and combined courses taught online with additonal field training. The courses take you through all aspects of the teaching process and even include lessons for teaching in different situations, from one-on-one to large classrooms. The site offers a TEFL Taster Quiz designed to help you understand what TEFL entails to see if it the right fit for you. If you still find yourself with a few questions about the courses, request a consultation with an i-to-i TEFL advisor.

ICAL offers online courses that allow you earn your certification at your own pace. In addition to the TEFL basics, you will be given a private tutor that will help you as you navigate the course and provide you with a reference letter upon your certification to help with employment!

BridgeTEFL is another online option whose courses include instruction through video, written work, and quizzes. Your work will be graded by a private tutor who will be available to answer questions and provide feedback on your progress.

Once you find the course right for you, you will have the ability to start your journey as an EFL teacher. Remember that when you commit to teaching abroad, you not only gain a job, but an opportunity to explore a world of possibilities.
